Who are you? I'm from Germany and currently a Gameplay Programming student at Futuregames in Malmö. Before landing in video games, I studied architecture in Hannover and then worked as a CAD technician at Schmidt & Schmidt in Karlsruhe. My first contact with programming languages was Python scripts in Maya, mainly to automate rigging tasks. Today I primarily work with Unreal Engine's/C++ and Unity/C#.
What inspires you? Some of my teachers I met during my studies: Carl Granberg at Futuregames, Perry Leijten at CGMA. Some books: for example Propp's Morphology of the Folktale, Lord of the Flies, or Pole Poppenspäler (Theodor Storm). Some films: East of Eden, The Godfather, The Deer Hunter, and Alita Battle Angel.
What is your favorite game? In terms of fun, Baldur's Gate 3; if we look beyond video games, also Magic the Gathering. From a technical perspective though, Street Fighter, Diablo and Elden Ring. When my own game raises questions, these games usually have the most accurate answers ready.
How did you get into video games? First Nintendo 64 and Age of Empires, later Dark Age of Camelot. I can still remember the pull that the Nintendo 64 had on our circle of friends when we (my sister and I) were the only ones who owned one.
